Destiny 2: Reed’s Regret Perks And God Rolls

Reed’s Regret is a new Linear Fusion Rifle introduced in Destiny 2’s Season of the Lost, and it’s the only Stasis-element Linear and Legendary Power Weapon in the game. Reed’s Regret has an incredibly unique combination of perks, including a number of first-time perk options that haven’t appeared on a Linear Fusion Rifle yet. It’s particularly powerful this season thanks to the Particle Deconstruction artifact mod, something we’ll definitely discuss. But first, let’s take a look at what this thing can roll with out of the gate.

Column 3: Triple Tap Makes Its LFR Debut

In the third perk column Reed’s Regret you’ll find Surplus, Heating Up, Quickdraw, Killing Wind, Hip-Fire Grip, Clown Cartridge, and Triple Tap. The most exciting perk option here is Triple Tap for PvE settings. Traditionally, perks and abilities that give you more ammo have always been competitive, but Triple Tap and Fourth Time’s The Charm are exceptional because the ammo they generate is new. Unlike Clown Cartridge you’re not simply pulling more ammo from reserves, and instead you’re actually creating free ammo from nothing.

Triple Tap is the obvious PvE choice in any setting where you’re dealing sustained damage to a single target. Not only does this effectively increase your total damage, but it also increases your damage per second by delaying your reload. In a five round magazine you’ll actually fire six shoots and effectively increase your one-magazine damage by 20%. Of course, the best magazine perk to pair with Triple Tap is either Enhanced Battery or Ionized Battery. Both perks will give you an extra shot in the magazine, but Ionized Battery will also hurt your reload speed. I wouldn’t worry about it too much, but if given the choice you should definitely prefer Enhanced Battery. With a magazine size of six you’ll be able to shoot eight times before reloading, with two of those shots being totally free ammo.

Column 4: Season Of The Boss Damage LFRs

This season is all about Fusion and Linear Fusion Rifles, and Reed’s Regret comes with most important damage perks on this class of weapon. Vorpal is your go-to for the PvE god roll, at least while Firing Line is bugged. When Firing Line is fixed its 20% damage bonus should make it the better choice over Vorpal when its conditions are met, but Vorpal is still a safe pick. Adagio is tempting in PvP to score one-hit body shots, but I think it’s mostly a gimmick. Rampage isn’t great for a single target power weapon, and Celerity is…well, you know. It’s Celerity.

Headstone currently only rolls on two other weapons in the game: Peacebond and Vulpecula. I think it’s significantly better on both of those weapons than on Reed’s Regret, so it feels like a bit of a miss for me. It’s like a worse Dragonfly that only becomes especially useful if you can create one up close and take advantage of certain Stasis aspects and fragments. A Machine Gun with Headstone would be incredible, but an LFR just can’t make good use of it.

The bottom line: Triple Tap and Vorpal are the perks you want to maximize your damage against bosses, and a magazine-increasing battery perk is a fantastic bonus. Thanks to Triple Tap I think it’ll be a solid option even after Particle Deconstruction makes its exit at the end of the season. If you’re looking to grab Reed’s Regret you’ll need to head into Trials of Osiris and earn engrams for Saint-14. Luckily you won’t need to build a team, or even win matches to get your hands on the weapon after the Season 15 changes to Trials.
